E6 Methodology: Project Design for Expedient Pavements

Today’s increasing demand for efficient project delivery plays a crucial role in the success of critical infrastructure projects. Even slight project delays can lead to budget overruns and conflicts among different stakeholders that can eventually put a dent not only on cost but the overall delivery of the project.

This is why Antoun’s approach to project design using the E6 methodology is superior in delivering mission-critical projects on time and on budget.

Antoun has extensive experience in delivering large concrete pavements in operational conditions where maintaining operations is critical.

We offer a full design and planning service that gives clients a way to better manage their project timelines. Our productivity and scheduling proposals, feasibility assessments or studies enable clients to manage their resources effectively and have the capacity to maintain their project timelines.

The proprietary E6 methodology guides the project design phase for expedient pavements. We combine our superior experience, innovation and product with exclusive access to specialist plant and equipment to optimise our client’s processes. This is fundamental when it comes to lowering costs and minimising downtime.

In this article, we’ll look at what is involved in the project design phase.

Step 3 – Project Design

Engineering

In the first aspect of the project design phase, we employ out-of-the-box thinking to identify the types of service needed; whether it’s Design and Construct, Construct Only, or if there’s a need to factor in consulting services.

This phase also includes specification, production, review and analysis, on-site management and testing services.

Logistics

The next phase is a full project review of logistics where the Antoun team research and identify other options available while adhering to timelines with the project budget in mind.

This is also where the team outline an in-depth, transparent, and a detailed construction program for the project.

Resources

The Resources phase involves our team conducting a detailed analysis to source optimum cost-efficient materials which are locally sourced when possible.

Specialist plant and equipment is also prepared with various contingencies in place while ensuring operators are well trained and prepared.

Scheduling

When it comes to scheduling, Antoun use their extensive experience to meticulously program the project on both a macro (i.e. entire project) and micro (e.g. timing of demo in minutes) level.

In this phase, Antoun employs post-project programming and scheduling for pre works.

We conduct full project planning and scheduling and create a detailed plan, which includes 15-minute incremental programs for critical path procedures that go hand-in-hand with our detailed proprietary E6 methodology.

HSEQ

When it comes to hazardous waste and waste mitigation, Antoun’s environmental credentials and extensive experience is superior. Antoun supports a full quality program with detailed Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), methodologies and management plans.

In 2009, Antoun was awarded the Engineers Australia Excellence Award for the Sydney Division in the category of Environment and Heritage, in conjunction with DECC.

Antoun is also triple ISO certified with today’s new industry standards and proudly has zero non-conformances since obtaining accreditation in 2014. We use a full electronic Integrated Management System (IMS) that uses live monitoring, data retention and security to ensure every project is compliant with construction requirements.

Antoun has an LTI (Lost Time Injury) of zero which reflects our commitment to workplace safety with consistency in minimising work-related incidents.

‘No Surprises’ Risk Mitigation Workshop

To ensure the success of every mission-critical project, it is crucial to conduct a walk through of the project prior to delivery to mitigate risk.

With Antoun’s No Surprises Risk Mitigation Workshop, our team conduct a forum during the pre-project phase, construction and in the post-project phase to discuss and plan all contingencies.

Antoun’s E6 methodology is guaranteed to not only meet the client’s needs and requirements, but also deliver the most effective solution to facilitate and fullfill the clients specific project at hand through early contractor involvement and/or consultation services.

Here, Antoun conducts an in-depth pre-construction review and provides feedback on project drawings and specifications which include solutions or amendments to meet client requirements and intentions while reducing the project timeline and/or project costs.

A detailed contingency plan is then developed and submitted to the client for review and comment prior to project commencement. Throughout this phase, a detailed project risk assessment is undertaken with effective mitigation measures that ensure every element of the project is delivered successfully.

Summary

Project design is the third step in Antoun’s E6 methodology and is crucial to the success of expedient pavement projects. This aligns Antoun’s philosophy with the client’s expectations and desired outcomes and guides the successful outcome of the project.

Antoun’s project design phase is also where risk mitigation and project contingencies are reviewed and explored to ensure every expedient project is done on-time and on-budget. This is a promise that Antoun stands behind and one that you can’t find anywhere else in the market.

Antoun’s track record for professionalism and service delivery means every client is assured that all projects are looked after well from start to finish.
